Boston ErHu Ensemble[B_E_E]

The Boston ErHu Ensemble (formally known as Youth Eastern String Troupe, a.k.a. [Y_E_S]) was established in 2008 with the goal of increasing the general public's knowledge and appreciation for the Erhu instrument. The ensemble meets twice a month at the GBCCA in Newton to practice and prepare for public performances. Some of the places the ensemble has performed include Children's Museum, Boston Public Library, Boston Dragon Boat Festival, Boston First Night, Schools, Senior Centers, Churches and Community Centers.

Boston ErHu Ensemble was established with several basic goals in mind. The first goal is to involve youth members in promoting cultural diversity through the use of Chinese music. The second goal is to provide a venue for youth members to develop self-confidence by giving public performances. The third goal is to instill in the youths the value of team work. The fourth goal is to reinforce the importance of being active participants in the community.
